West Wing Basement Alterations
Tea Room and Board Room

In the original 1930 Paul Cret building the basement of the West Wing was used for building service functions and receiving. The area was gutted and altered to accommodate the Folger’s formal Board and Tea Rooms. The design and finish of these formal rooms and the adjacent passage has been upgraded to properly reflect their use and importance and to generally make the basement’s level of finish more in keeping with that of the elegant rooms upstairs. The remodeling also included a large serving kitchen for catered events and an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant restroom.
